Under the leadership of the department director, assistant director, charge nurse, the Safety Observation Specialist/Nursing Assistant/ Unit Receptionist provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. In addition, when working in the Nursing Assistant role they will take vital signs and assist with activities of daily living and comfort measures for an assigned group of patients. The Safety Observation Specialist/Nursing Assistant/Unit Receptionist also performs clerical and receptionist duties related to assigned department. Recognizes the importance of meeting customer expectations, and demonstrates a positive attitude and efficient use of resources, and performs related duties as necessary to fulfill the customer's needs. Performs duties according to the policy and procedures of CHOMP, Westland House and the department under the direct supervision of an RN.
One year (in the last 2 years) of experienced preferred in acute hospital or long term care setting. Must demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology, strong computer skills and ability to multi-task. Must be detail oriented, organized, have exceptional phone etiquette, communication skills, be able to multi-task and work in a busy demanding work environment. Critical thinking skills are essential. Experience using electronic medical record preferred.
High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent work experience in related field preferred. A Certified Nursing Assistant course or relevant work experience is required.
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification is required. State of California C.N.A. certification required for those hired/transferred into an Admission Services position on or after 1/1/2020 and those who already possess it on 1/1/2020. Must obtain CPI training within six months of hired date.
