Job Description:

Under the leadership of the department director and the department manger the Radiation Oncology Nurse provides nursing assessment, intervention, symptom management, and education to the radiation therapy population. The Radiation Oncology Nurse provides a coordinated, comprehensive plan of patient care to the radiation therapy patient; is responsible for delivering direct nursing care and patient education to the patient population receiving radiation therapy on an outpatient basis; and is responsible for delivering nursing care and patient education on a limited basis specific to radiation oncology needs to the patient population receiving radiation therapy on an inpatient basis. The RN possesses oncology experience, as well as broad general knowledge and skills to competently provide appropriate nursing care and patient education. Other Nursing duties as assigned. The Radiation Oncology Nurse is directly responsible to the department manager and the Chief Radiation Oncologist.

Experience

Oncology experience preferred; experience in formal and informal teaching of adult learners preferred. Skillful in starting patient IV lines required.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

Licensure/Certifications:

State of California RN license required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS is required. At a minimum, an active ONS/ONCC Radiation Therapy Certificate preferred or acquired within six months from date of hire.

Pay Range (based on years of applicable experience):

$79.33

to

$106.06

The hours employees work determine when a shift differential is paid.

Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $5.50

Hourly Night Shift Differential: $8.00
