Principal Trainer

Position Summary

Principal Trainers report to the training manager.  The Principal Trainer will work with application coordinators, and application managers to develop and maintain the training program for the roles in their application. Principal Trainers that work on applications that train physicians also work with specialty champions


  • Must maintain Epic certification within Application, Curriculum and MST build, as well as a through understanding of Epic application workflows
  • Design, update and maintain curriculum
  • Building, testing, and maintaining the training environment
  • Partner with Analysts to roll out changes and updates
  • Schedule and Deliver the Education Program
  • Customer/End used support
  • Lead Special projects related to application education
  • Regularly touch-base with SuperUsers
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience/Skill Set

  • Demonstrated experience in education program planning and development
  • Ability to assess staff training needs and deliver excellent written materials as well as oral presentations
  • Experience and proven skill set with the MS Office Suite
  • Customer Service oriented
  • Proficient in the organization’s Epic workflows
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A strong belief in the value of the Epic install
  • The ability to write well


  • BS or Master's degree preferred


  • Must maintain Epic certification
