Job Description:

The Patient Transporter reports to the Patient Transport Supervisor and is responsible for patient transportation and for continual surveillance of hallways and corridors to ensure equipment and other items are not stored in egress pathways and to move them to appropriate locations. Transporters are expected to be detail oriented and to report any unusual occurrence that may take place with the patient during transport. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, transporting patients, obtaining patient weights, performing patient lifts, moving equipment, monitoring halls, cleaning equipment, completing daily tracking sheets, and responding to codes and over head pages. Transporters are responsible for assisting clinical staff with patient movement and ambulation according to lift team criteria. Transporters are expected to be self starters, able to follow directions, to solve problems, and follow through task completion. They must have verbal skills, excellent customer service skills, and be able to exhibit a calm and thoughtful demeanor in difficult or potentially volatile circumstances. Transporters are expected to comply with all Department and Hospital policies and be able to perform the specific skills as outlined in the Competency and Skills Check List. Important dimensions of this position consist of professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, and good public/customer relations.

Experience:

One year of experience preferred with working knowledge of patient transportation equipment. Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred. Spanish speaking preferred.

Education:

High school diploma, G.E.D. or combination of education and relevant work experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.

The current Montage Health authorized crisis prevention/aggressive behavior management program designated for Patient Transporters must be completed within the first 180 days of hire.

Assigned Work Hours:

Per diem, varied days and shifts as needed. No set guaranteed hours in a two week pay period. This is not a full or part time position

Pay Range (based on years of applicable experience):

$31.71

to

$42.41

The hours employees work determine when a shift differential is paid.

Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $2.01

Hourly Night Shift Differential: $2.95
