Under the leadership of the department director and their assigned Supervisor, the Cook 1 position is responsible for preparing food in a manner consistent with meeting the mission of Nutrition Services, which is to offer our patients and customers high quality, nutritious foods. Food is prepared according to Community Hospital standardized recipes. The Cook 1 accurately follows production schedules. This position requires working in an organized and neat manner and according to all safe food-handling requirements. Work must be prioritized in order to meet deadlines. Cook 1 positions prepare salads, sandwiches/wraps, nourishments, cold foods, and less complex hot foods such as soups, starches and vegetables. At our Westland House site, the Cook 1 prepares complete meals, including hot entrees, for lower volumes of patients and customers.
Fluency, the ability to communicate orally, and the ability to read and write in English is required. Passing a basic reading and math test is required. Food Service experience is required. Basic computer skills are required. Cooking experience is preferred .
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education or experience in related field required.
