Job Description:

Position Summary

The Systems Analyst II reports directly to the Director of Surgical Services Business Operations and supports the Surgical Services leadership in the collection, analysis, reporting, and evaluating of data and statistical information to support the mission, vision, and the strategic plan. Performs all clerical, technical, and analytical functions as it relates to information management systems.  Collaborates with Surgical Services Management and Information Technology Services on the effectiveness of computer system(s) functionality, software applications, data management and interface systems including researching technical issues and testing of new software updates and new report generation.

The Systems Analyst II serves as a liaison to Financial Services, Patient Business Services, Supply Chain, and Health Information Technology to maintain/update the information management systems and technology within Surgical Services. This includes maintaining the scheduling board (Snapboard) in the EHR with correct block time information, room closures, new procedure additions with CPT, ICD, and HCPCs codes, and any other information affecting the accuracy of scheduling, block utilization, and OR utilization reports.  

Processes the accounts payable, bill-only purchase requisitions, and Life of Supply (LOS) as needed. Maintains the Charge Description Master (CDM), adding new procedures with the appropriate level charges, performs daily charge reconciliation, updates GTIN numbers.  

Additional responsibilities include maintenance of various HIT systems and interfaces within Surgical Services, i.e. LogicNets, Provation, and other sterilization equipment.   

Experience

Experience in computer science, business management, or operating room software management preferred. A minimum of two years’ experience in a peri-operative clinical arena and information system environment. Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted. Analytical skills required. Must demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology, have knowledge of data collection and analysis concepts. Strong knowledge and demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office suite software ( Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.).

Familiarity with hospital application systems is desirable. Familiarity with system monitoring tools, ability to read and follow complex instructions, maintain written records, and communicate both verbally and in written format. Ability to multi-task, make independent judgments in solving problems and work as a team member. Ability to work with other analysts, programmers, and hospital system users to describe problems accurately and to receive and communicate instruction on how to recover from software errors.

Education

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
