Job Description:
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Manager of Medical Staff Services, the Medical Staff Coordinator supports the credentialing and privileging functions of the Medical Staff Services department. This role ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, maintains accurate practitioner records, and supports medical staff governance processes. Provides a full range of professional services for credentialing, recredentialing, verifying licensing and certifications, monitoring sanctions, assessing competency, and processing privileges.
Responsibilities
- Independently coordinate credentialing and reappointment processes, including application preparation, data entry, and file assembly.
- Perform primary source verification activities in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain and update electronic credentialing files and databases.
- Track and monitor expirables (licenses, certifications, insurance, etc.) to ensure continuous compliance.
- Prepare standard correspondence related to credentialing and privileging.
- Assist in preparing credentialing files for committee and board review.
- Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Provide customer service support to medical staff and internal departments.
- Assist with meeting preparation, including AV, minutes support, preparing agendas, reports, and documentation for credentialing-related committees.
- Perform general administrative duties and support departmental operations.
- Ensure compliance with the Joint Commission, CMS and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Prepare completed credentialing files for committee review and ensure readiness for approval.
- Maintain integrity and accuracy of credentialing databases and electronic files.
- In coordination with the Manager, assist in supporting audits, surveys, and regulatory reviews.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation.
- Maintains the confidentiality of credential information, exercising caution and discretion in responding to inquiries and complaints with an excellent customer service-oriented attitude.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements for credentialing and privileging.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to make independent decisions on matters of significance using analytical skills and sound judgment
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to work effectively, cooperatively, and professionally with a diverse group of faculty and staff, and aid in the training and education of existing and new staff.
- Accurate and detail-oriented, along with the ability to oversee multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously with numerous interruptions.
- Must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with strong time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with a positive attitude.
Desired Qualifications
- 3-5 years of credentialing and privileging experience.
- Strong understanding of credentialing and privileging processes.
- Knowledge of Hospital or clinical department policies and procedures.
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensure/Certifications
CPCS (Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist) or obtained within 3 years of hire.

$38.72to
$51.80The hours employees work determine when a shift differential is paid.
Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $2.71Hourly Night Shift Differential: $4.06
