This position reports to the leadership Hospice of the Central Coast reporting directly to the director. S/he is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, training and supervising a sufficient number of volunteers, in compliance with federal and state regulations to meet the needs of our Hospice patients and Transitions clients. The Support Services Coordinator possesses skills and knowledge to competently provide appropriate volunteer services. S/he will work with other team members to prioritize referrals, team projects and manage the resources of the department. This position is also responsible to provide appropriate bereavement services.
S/he must have knowledge and understanding of the family dynamics with regard to illness, loss, grief and bereavement and be comfortable discussing end-of-life issues. Computer skills are a must. Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word & Outlook. Volunteer coordination and supervision experience within the last 5 years preferred. At least one year of experience working with adults experiencing illness, loss and grief preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, health care, education, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience of at least three years.
Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
This position requires driving. In addition to a valid CA driver’s license, the following are required: Automobile insurance as required by the State of California with an acceptable driving record of three points or less, participation in the DMV pull-notice program, and an automobile available for daily work.
