Position Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant reports to the Assistant Director of Rehabilitation Services, and is responsible for supporting the mission of the Hospital by providing quality speech-language pathology services to patients who have impairments in all aspects of communication and swallowing and related areas that impact communication and swallowing: speech production, fluency, language, cognition, voice, resonance, feeding, swallowing, and hearing. Interventions are performed in the acute care or outpatient environment under the supervision and direction of the speech-language pathologist of record.  The speech-language pathologist assistant interacts and practices in collaboration with a variety of professionals involved in the care of the patient, and supports the organization’s efforts to provide prevention and wellness services in the community.

Education/Experience/Licensure Requirements:

The speech-language pathologist assistant holds a valid associate degree in and/or graduation from a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant certificate program, OR Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders with a minimum of 70 hours field work/clinical experience from a Board-approved program.

Current registration as an SLPA with the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. 

American Heart Association Healthcare provider CPR certification is required.
