Job Description:

Purpose of Position

The Senior Data Analytics & BI Analyst/Developer will support the BI Director and team in lifting the performance of the department to improve the development and delivery of more actionable information in an easy to understand and minimally labor-intensive manner. She/he will work with the BI team to develop technical and operational strategies to improve the work flow and value of services provided to our internal and external customers (front line to board level) our customers, develop a standardized reporting approach in Tableau, as well as research and proactively integrate best practice health plan analytics (from predictive analytics to early and actionable insights/initiatives to performance tracking on clinical and financial measures). Hence, we are seeking a team member to take on the responsibility of evaluation of our current system, recommend enhancements/changes, and lead the development and deployment of a broad range of reporting needs.

Aspire Health is currently participating in a broader enterprise pilot program, Enterprise Data Management and Analytics (EDMA) with the focus being to store as much data as possible on a Tableau server that will have data marts created to support business owner needs. Currently, Aspire’s BI team develops and maintains Aspire’s enterprise data warehouse (EDW) in its entirety, however, the EDMA project includes the transition of the maintenance, development, and support of the EDW to Montage’s HIT team to transfer the maintenance & development to the HIT department of one of the parent companies, Montage Health. This position will be involved in determining the data needed to provide advanced reporting and working with Montage HIT staff to get the appropriate data marts built to support Aspire Health data needs.

Responsibilities

  • Understand Aspire Health’s SQL platform and how it complements systems/platforms used across the Aspire Health organization and entities with which it collaborates, including Epic and Meditech, and work with those who support these systems to synthesize data across platforms, allowing comprehensive reporting for the health plan as a whole;
  • Understand the full suite of Aspire Health’s data requirements - by stakeholder - including clinical, quality, care management, utilization and financial reporting and map out how to prioritize and meet all requirements;
  • Ability to back up BI developers as needed, running basic recurring/ad hoc reports and monitoring data flows;
  • Assume responsibility for utilizing Epic Healthy Planet application to deliver care management and clinical reporting needed to support Aspire Health’s Population Health and Care Management, and collaborate with medical groups to assure alignment of reporting requirements and leverage of Epic and Healthy Planet;
  • Work with Aspire BI team members and key stakeholders to identify appropriate metrics and performance measurements, and suggest, design and create Tableau workbooks, dashboards, and stories that provide the ability to track the progress and performance of these metrics in all aspects of the health plan business (i.e. quality, clinical, financial, operational, customer satisfaction)Suggest, design and create Tableau workbooks, dashboards, and stories that provide actionable data and ensure the data is easy to understand and promptly gets in the hands of the appropriate teams to ensure earliest interventions;
  • Work with the Operations Manager to implement best-practice documentation for all work flows related to processing and distribution of data/reporting. Method should include capabilities that include regular review and continuous updating.

Competencies

  • Advanced proficiency in Tableau: Extensive knowledge of end to end Tableau development, including advanced analytics and strong presentation design, ability to do internal data validations, drive and facilitate user acceptance testing, and work with the server team for production deployment.
  • Proficiency in Epic/Healthy Planet: Strong proficiency in navigating Healthy Planet and smoothly and effectively bridge the gap between end users and Healthy Planet technical team.
  • Proficiency in SQL/SSMS environments: Proficient and well-versed in SQL and SSMS with ability to interpret code, run jobs, create views, merge data with other sources, and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Problem Solving, Critical Thinking and Decision Making:  Identifies, analyzes, organizes, and solves problems and issues in a timely, effective manner; uses data and input from others to make sound, timely decisions even in the face of uncertainty.

Position Requirements

  • Highly professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to immediately run processes, create views, validate, and problem-solve in SQL
  • Ability to work independently and directly with the parent organizations’ HIT departments to enhance the use of Epic and Healthy Planet
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience in Tableau data creation as well as ability to communicate using MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio)
  • 5+ years experience analyzing data and producing reports in a healthcare environment (preferably health plan) required
  • At least three years’ experience in clinical enterprise (hospital or medical practice office based) workflow for clinical and financial information systems.
  • In-depth experience and expertise in supporting the design and tactical execution of analytic products and be able to communicate and execute the build of a Tableau front end application
  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent education/experience

Preferences

  • Experience merging health insurance claims, pharmacy benefit and clinical data
  • Experience with Epic’s Caboodle platform, registries, and other reporting tools like SlicerDicer.
