Job Description:

Position Summary

Under the leadership of the department director and reporting to the administrative specialist, the senior administrative assistant is responsible for the completion of daily clerical operations within the department. Independently preforms a wide variety of complex and responsible clerical duties. S/he maintains sensitive and confidential information. This position collaborates with the Administrative Supervisor to support and coordinate daily staffing for inpatient nursing units, and to assign float staff to adjust for sickness, absences, and census fluctuations. Schedules outpatient overflow blood transfusion patient. Collaborates with all med surg Assistant Directors to support staff schedules and kronos. Provides support for Nursing Services Director, Administrative Supervisors, and Med Surg Assistant Directors.

Important dimensions of this position consist of quality work, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and a broad clerical knowledge.


Two to three years of secretarial or administrative assistant experience required. Working knowledge of office equipment. Knowledge of PC systems and word processing systems required.


High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent work experience in related field. Some college or business courses preferred.


American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification is required.

Assigned Work Hours:

0.9 FTE (72-hrs per pay period)

Mostly evening shift: 1:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. and 1 day shift: 5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Expected to work every other weekend
