Registered Nurse - Perioperative Training Program - Main Operating Room

Under the leadership of the department director, assistant director, nursing supervisor, and/or charge nurse, the registered nurse trainee is responsible and accountable for planning directing, assessing and providing nursing care according to the policies and procedures of the hospital and department. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and basic nursing knowledge.
The registered nurse trainee successfully completes a 6 month Perioperative 101 course, which includes didactic and clinical training. The nurse trainee continues precepting in various procedures including but not limited to: General Surgery, Orthopedics, Spine (ortho & neuro), Gynecology, Urology, Neurosurgical, ENT, Ophthalmology, Peripheral Vascular and Plastic, until safely independent.
One year acute care experience required; tele experience preferred. Must be able to work varied 10-hour shifts (i.e. 07:00-17:30, 0900-1930, 11:00-21:30, and 13:00-23:30) based on a pre-planned staffing schedule. Willingness and ability to be on-call on a rotational basis as scheduled and to respond within 30 minutes of call-back communication is essential.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring the applicable skill, and must complete and pass all annual competencies.
State of California RN license required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.

Will work 8-hr shift for duration of training then transition to 10-hr shift at the completion of the training program
