Job Description:

The Data Analyst is responsible for translating data into user-friendly reporting systems that will enable Ohana’s Executive Team to make data-informed decisions for clinical and operational improvement. The Data Analyst is proficient in processes related to data aggregation, validation, analysis, and presentation to produce meaningful insights. S/he will play a critical role in the design and implementation of the population health applications and measurement-based care that will guide program development and treatment planning. This individual will use their sophisticated analytical skills to provide recommendations on how to optimize data collection via the electronic health record in alignment with Ohana and the Community Hospital’s strategic goals.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Provide operational, clinical and strategic reporting and analytics by mining complex data within the Epic electronic health record system.
  • Work with Epic Analysts to develop accurate and reliable reports
  • Lead efforts to build dashboards for real time performance monitoring and reliable tracking mechanisms.
  • Take a lead role in extracting data from data warehouses, developing analytic tools, and ensure data integrity through validation efforts.
  • Assist in developing reporting and monitoring compliance to meet regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a working knowledge of billing and coding as it relates to meeting productivity/financial sustainability goals within a collaborative care model.
  • Work with the Leadership Team to maintain providers’ input regarding proposed performance improvement strategies.
  • In conjunction with Ohana’s Epic Credentialed Trainers, responsible for developing and maintaining tools to support Epic users and providers.
  • Suggest improvements to the system, adaptation to system changes and assist departmental co-workers to learn new system changes.
  • Serve as a liaison between Operations Directors and HIT for report questions, validation, and other HIT related issues.
  • Recommend, update, and lead the development of application and/or data workflows
  • Actively participate in manager meetings, provider meetings, educational seminars, and in-services, as needed.
  • Work independently on routine assignments and strive to improve skills & problem solving abilities.

  • Three or more years of data analytics experience in healthcare
  • Knowledge and expertise in Epic, SQL, tableau, advanced Excel
  • Knowledge and skills in basic statistical analysis
  • Proficient organizational, written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Experience collaborating between information technology and practice operations
  • Analytical understanding of clinic workflow processes
  • Proficient organizational, written, verbal and presentation skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
  • Three years or more of experience in a healthcare-related or business administration field; understanding of outpatient care, behavioral health care, pediatric care, and/or population health preferred
  • Two or more years of experience with SQL or other data manipulation languages, relational databases, and Tableau or other business intelligence tools. Experience with Epic Caboodle and Clarity is desirable.
  • Experience with developing ETL processes, back-end programming, data quality and data management processes, and report automation.
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Experience in budgeting, coding, business case development, and cost-benefit analyses
  • Experience in designing and maintaining performance measurement systems (i.e. metric design, metric display, charter development, change concept identification and deployment, and on-going monitoring).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Works well independently and collaboratively; is a self-motivator and teams-oriented.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
