Job Description:

Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula seeks a Network Administrator II in its Monterey, California location.

Duties: Build, install, configure, maintain and administer the organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) and related environments including computer hardware, systems, and applications software.  Perform system backups on network servers. Monitor network performance and provide day-to-day support and maintenance to ensure that it remains operational and available to users. Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures for the organization.  Design and support server systems and support software, implementing practices and procedures for the organization infrastructure.  Analyze the current network environment and provision equipment for new builds, respond to trouble tickets, and work with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to resolve system outages. Monitor network devices, and provide recommendations on existing and future system configuration settings. Review existing network monitoring tools for alerting and reporting, review firewall rules, and recommend network security enhancements.  Perform regular data backups and implement disaster recovery protocols for at-risk data.  

Qualifications and Required Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or related field and four (4) years of experience as a network administrator, network engineer or closely related. 

Specialized Experience: Two years of experience must include the following: 1) Network administration in multi-protocol, healthcare environment;  2) Application-based and hardware-based network monitoring tools, including Cisco Prime, Solarwinds and Cisco DNA Center;  3) Network routing and security, network virtualization and performing patch upgrades; 4) LAN/WAN and Cisco WiFi networks; CISCO IOS command-line functionality, monitoring and troubleshooting;  5) Planning enterprise scale network implementation; 6) Cisco Data center switching configuring, implementing, managing and maintenance across multiple datacenters and locations; 7) Configuring and maintaining Palo Alto Network firewalls.

Education Required:

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or related field and four (4) years of experience as a network administrator, network engineer or closely related.
