Job Description:

Under the leadership of the department director and department supervisor the Medical Physicist is responsible for computations, calibrations, measurements and communication as necessary to ensure accurate delivery of radiation therapy treatment as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. A Medical Physicist must fully understand the operations, qualities, and necessary safety requirements of all treatment and treatment planning equipment.

Performs all therapeutic radiologic physics procedures and services according to the "Guidelines for Ethical Practice" as outlined by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). Interacts with patients, medical staff, and peers in a positive, service-oriented manner. Performs all procedures in area of assignment, serving the entire population from birth to death.

Experience

Five (5) years or more experience preferred.

Education

As necessary for required licensure and certification.

Licensure/Certifications

Must be certified in Therapeutic Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP). License Certifications: American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS, and ABR or ABMP in the field of Therapeutic Radiological Physics.

Assigned Work Hours:

Varied Shift (Day/Evening/Night) 8 hours per shift 5 days per week; weekends and holidays included.
