Job Description:

Position Summary:   

The Therapist reports to the Ohana Clinical Director and is primarily responsible for delivering targeted mental health prevention programs across several local middle schools, alongside providing evidence-based psychotherapy treatments to youth and families in individual and group settings at Ohana. The therapist will work onsite at Ohana enough to provide therapy for two sessions (8 hours/week total), and participate in several team meetings and supervision. The remainder of their time will be dedicated to the development of prevention and early intervention programs in three middle schools in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District.

The therapist will be working with the Clinical Director and with Ohana leadership as well as collaborating with the administration of the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, and staff of the three MPUSD middle schools in particular. The school-based program will include delivering evidence-based prevention services in a group format to youth with identified risk for developing psychiatric illness, alongside providing education about this program and about adolescent development and risk to school personnel and to the families in the community served by the schools. Experience working with at-risk adolescents, in either a treatment or prevention capacity, is required. Experience in a school-setting is preferred. Training in evidence-based treatments for youth, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy or Motivational Enhancement Therapy is preferred.  Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Experience and Skills:

Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in therapy with children, adolescents and families. Experience working in a school-based setting is preferred. Training in either Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is preferred. Training in evidence based treatments for Substance Use Disorders (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy or Contingency Management) and certification in said therapy is preferred. Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Education:

Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Human services required.

Licensure/Certifications:

LCSW, LMFT, PsyD, or Ph.D. is required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required. MOAB certification must be obtained within the first 6 months of hire. Certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or other evidence-based therapy for children or adolescents preferred. Will complete mandatory 5150 training by Monterey County to obtain 5150 certification and obtain 5150 Professional staff authorization yearly.

Starting salary: $90,230-$109,470
