Job Description:

Under the leadership of the department director, Clinical Nutrition Manager, and Kids Eat Right (KER) Program Manager, the Administrative Assistant (AA) for KER is responsible for support functions for the supervisor(s) and KER Instructors, including supporting the staff with required computer skills. S/he is responsible for performing varied secretarial, communicative, and office duties for KER, including telephone support, scheduling and outreach, ordering supplies, and maintaining office equipment. In addition, the AA will perform these varied support duties for the Life Connections program. Other supportive tasks for Nutrition Services, Outpatient Diabetes and Nutrition Therapy, and other areas, as needed.

Experience:

Required:  Intermediate computer skills, as evidenced by proficiency testing in Microsoft Word and Excel. A working knowledge of office equipment and strong organizational skills. Strong public relations and communication skills (both verbal and written). Fluency, the ability to communicate orally, and the ability to read and write in English. The ability to project a positive, warm, and friendly attitude along with excellent customer service and telephone etiquette.

Preferred:  Fluency, the ability to communicate orally, and the ability to read and write in Spanish; a working knowledge of medical terminology.

Education:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education or experience in related field required. Some college-level secretarial, computer or business courses preferred.

Licensure/Certifications:
Must possess a valid California driver’s license.

Other:
This position requires driving. In addition to a valid CA driver’s license, the following are required: Automobile insurance as required by the State of California, an acceptable driving record of three points or less and no DUI within the last 10 years, a current DMV printout, and completed pull-form consent for participation in the DMV pull-notice program.
