Job Description:
Under the leadership of the department Director, Assistant Directors, and/or Pharmacy Supervisor, the Inpatient Pharmacist is responsible and accountable for providing pharmaceutical care according to the policies and procedures of the hospital and department. The Inpatient Pharmacist must participate in patient medication order screening and verification, management of pharmacy technician staff, and completion of distribution tasks in a timely manner. Responsibilities include order verification, oversight of medication management, proficiency of pharmacy computer programs and appropriate communication to hospital and prescriber staff. The staff pharmacist will adhere to standardized workflows, policies and procedures and will be trained for emergent situations. Inpatient Pharmacists will seek ongoing professional development that is pertinent to their scope of practice.
Experience
At least one year of acute-care hospital pharmacist experience in the prior 3 years is preferred.
Education
As required to meet State of California licensure requirements.
Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of the applicable skill, and must complete and pass all annual competencies.
Licensure/Certifications
State of California RPH (Pharmacist) license is required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS is required. ACLS must be completed prior to completion of the introductory period and independent assignment.
