Under the leadership of the department director and assistant director, the Chaplain provides spiritual care to meet the needs of patients, family/significant others, volunteers and staff members. S/he works as part of the interdisciplinary care team coordinating spiritual care with the clinical team, volunteer chaplains and local clergy; documenting patient visits appropriately; responding to calls throughout the working day and serving as on-call chaplain as needed on weekends, holidays and evenings. The Chaplain functions as a core member of the IDG team. S/he recruits, trains, and supervises volunteer chaplains.
Demonstrated experience in pastoral and spiritual counseling with current recognition and good standing in spiritual community. Spanish speaking preferred.
Masters of Divinity or education in clinical pastoral education, theology or religious studies.
Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring the applicable skill, and must complete and pass all annual competencies.
Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
This position requires driving. In addition to a valid CA driver’s license, the following are required: Automobile insurance as required by the State of California with an acceptable driving record of three points or less, participation in the DMV pull-notice program, and an automobile available for daily work.

Assigned Work Hours:
Primarily Monday through Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; occasional weekend based on patient need.
