Job Description:

Position  Summary:   

The Director of Operations will carry out the strategy and vision of Ohana for the effective delivery of innovative clinical, educational and preventative mental health services for children, adolescents and families on the Monterey Peninsula. The Director of Operations will be supporting Community Hospital’s strategic plan, quality commitment, and values while complying with hospital policies/procedures and applicable laws and standards.

The Director of Operations is responsible and accountable for overall management of the Ohana departmental operations. This will include the operations of multiple services for the evaluation and treatment of behavioral health problems in youth, as well as the operations of prevention and education programs for young people, families, educators and other important adults dedicated to the healthy development of young people on the peninsula. In collaboration with clinical leadership at Ohana, the Director of Operations will ensure a level of quality and customer service that strives to exceed internal and external customer expectations. 

The Director of Operations will develop and mentor a high-performing team through an overarching focus on the creation of a work environment that is rigorous, collaborative, transparent, open, consistently fair, engaging and fully committed to the dignity and well-being of our patients, their families and one another.  The Director will actively foster this culture of continuous learning, curiosity, flexibility and humility alongside hard work and dedication to quality. The Director of Operations will participate in hiring new staff, manage the operational aspects of employment and initiate personnel actions, when necessary, in accordance with Human Resource policies and organization philosophy.

Outside of managing personnel, the Director of Operations will establish and maintain effective working relationships with organizational leaders across CHOMP Departments. The Director will collaborate with these leaders to support the efficient and effective functioning of shared programs, including shared clinical programs with other clinical services, building and grounds maintenance, regulatory compliance, technical and materials support, management of applicable revenue and expenses and security.

Must have strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, curiosity, high energy, humor and humility.  The Director must have comfort prioritizing safety and quality of care while supporting innovation, all alongside managing the operational needs and regulatory obligations of a youth behavioral health program.

Experience:

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of management and leadership experience in child and adolescent behavioral healthcare is preferred, but management and leadership experience in behavioral health or pediatric health or related nonprofit organization will be considered.
  • Strong communication skills required.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, show an attention to detail and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver innovative programming required.
  • Skilled at presenting complex information in an understandable fashion.
  • Ability to work across disciplines to support collaboration, decision-making and effective provision of services.

Education:

  • Masters level degree or higher in clinical child or adolescent behavioral health (nursing, social work, psychology) is preferred, but other degrees will be considered for the applicant with exceptional work experience.
