Position Summary

The Cancer Registrar is responsible for registration of patients diagnosed and/or being treated for a reportable neoplasm, and for coordinating registry activities as outlined by the ACOS Commission on Cancer Standards.

Education:

·         Successful completion of 160 hours of work practicum in a CTR-staffed Cancer Registry, plus successful completion of an NCRA-Accredited Associate Degree Program or Successful completion of an NCRA-Accredited Certificate Program and successful completion of a minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent (60 college-level credits)

·         1,950 hours (equal to one year full-time) experience in the Cancer Registry field, plus successful completion of a minimum of an Associate degree or equivalent [60 college-level credits]. Course work must include two semesters of Human Anatomy and Human Physiology or equivalent, with a grade of C or better.

 

Licensure/Certification:

·         Must be a certified tumor registrar (CTR) or in process of becoming eligible to take CTR exam (see under Education, above)
