Job Description:

Position Summary
The Cardiovascular Physician Assistant reports to the Director of the Main Operating Room and Cardiac Surgery Services. The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services, and assisting in preoperative and postoperative care of cardiovascular and thoracic patients under the supervision of the Cardiac Surgery Physician. Intraoperative duties involve endoscopic saphenous vein procurement and assisting on cardiac and thoracic surgery procedures. 


Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and a broad clinical knowledge.

Experience

Must have at least 3 years’ experience as a Cardiovascular Physician Assistant in an acute care, cardiac surgery environment accredited by The Joint Commission. Formal post-graduate training as a CVT-PA preferred. Demonstrated competence performing endoscopic vein harvesting, and demonstrated experience in critical care management of cardiac patients preferred.

Education

Must have completed a Physician Assistant program accredited by ARC-PA, passed the PANCE administered by NCCPA.

Licensure/Certifications

State of California PA license required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification is required. ACLS certification must be obtained prior to completion of orientation and independent assignment.

Assigned Work Hours:

Schedule is selected rotating weekend coverage, i.e. inclusive of Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Position Type:

Per Diem

Pay Range (based on years of applicable experience):

$90.74

to

$121.31
