Under supervision program manager of Ohana PHP, the Ohana behavioral specialist provides support with activities of daily living and milieu support for the adolescents in the Ohana Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Program. With guidance from program manager, senior therapists and program therapists, the behavioral specialist will learn to provide specialized care related to adolescent mental health.
Examples of duties:
Providing assistance in support and ensuring safety of adolescents Observation of adolescents and report verbally and in writing to the clinical staff the behavior and physical state of the clients. Participate in client activities and encourage client participation Serving as an effective role models to clients - encouraging the utilization of adaptive coping skills
Key skills the candidate must possess include 1) patience and the ability to stay calm in stressful situations, 2) excellent ability to communicate with team members, 3) good listening skills, 4) excellent observations skills and 5) the ability to work with people. Must have flexibility, good judgment, interest in helping others, compassion and humor.
Experience
- At least 1 year experience working with adolescents in a structured setting (school, group home, etc.)
- Knowledge of child development
- Bilingual/bicultural is preferred
Education
Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in psychology, social work, child development or related field
Licensure
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Other
Assigned Work Hours:
Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm/ varied
